My fitness journey has taken many twists and turns over the years- I’ve been through several phases of life and had to adapt to each one of them.
Each came with its own joy & unique challenges.
- Student: I began studying for my degree in Exercise Physiology, I was all about the research and the science behind exercise. As a young fitness pro, I had plenty of time to dedicate to meal prep and training, and I truly enjoyed that stage of my journey. This was a very formative time for me and was when I really started to develop my fitness philosophy.
- Wife: When I was a newly married wife, healthy eating took a backseat to dinners with my husband (a meat & potatoes… and plenty of BREAD, kind of guy), and while it may not have been the most conducive to six pack abs or a tight tummy, it was a twist I enjoyed (but not too much ). It really helped me to develop a more real world approach to fitness and I started to understand the real challenges that face women in the real world.
- Mom: When my husband deployed, I had a mission to get in the “best shape of my life” and had two long 9 months deployments to dedicate to fitness and getting some seriously amazing abs. When he returned, I we decided to start a family and I traded my abs for a baby bump, enjoyed 9 months of growing a healthy, happy son, and then used the military training tactics from my husband to get my pre-baby body back in record time: just 12 short weeks, with only 3 hours per week of workouts (Let’s face it, busy moms don’t have time for much more!). I can say this time gave me a great appreciation for the fitness struggles that all moms have and put me on a mission to make fat loss for the everyday woman achievable.
- Bikini Competitor: After realizing you don’t have to spend hours in the gym to get results, I decided to take my fitness to the next level and hit the stage (just 7 months postpartum) for my first bikini competition. I trained entirely at home, while Jackson was sleeping, and was able, once again to get into the best shape of my life (yes, even after having a baby!).
The time has come for yet another adventure…. A little Read more…
